Pre-Planning With Your Photographer for a Successful Brand Photoshoot

Once you’ve made the decision to update your brand photos, you want to communicate with your brand photographer beforehand, to clarify your goals and help the photographer to better understand your business.

  1. It helps to start with your role in the business.

What do you stand for and why do you do what you do? How long have you been in business and what’s your mission? How would you describe your personality and the vibe of your business?

Your photographer will use this information when determining what type of photographs to include during your brand photoshoot. They’ll want to show how your business does things and your unique personality.

  2. Next, who are you helping?

What are their needs and fears? What’re they interested in? By understanding your target audience, the photographer will have a better idea of the type of brand photographs that’ll resonate the most with them and help to create a connection with them.

For instance, if your ideal clients are professionals, they might respond better to more polished and composed photos, as opposed to a creative entrepreneur who might respond to a more relaxed vibe.

  3. How will you be using the brand photographs?

Will they be for your website, social media accounts, newsletters or blog? Do you prefer more vertical or horizontal images? Will you need any photos with blank space for text?

  4. Do you have brand colors and branded props you’d like to include in some of the photos?

  5. Do you have a location in mind? Is it your workspace? If so, can you describe the space? Are there windows? Is there any natural light? How much space is there? Are you open to using a different location?

  6. What’re your expectations?? What are your goals and what’re you hoping to achieve with this personal brand photoshoot? Do you have specific poses or compositions in mind? Please share them! If you can find inspirational photos, even better:))

  7. Review the timing for the photo session day and receiving the edited photos.

The more information you can provide to your brand photographer, the more likely you’ll be happy with your new brand photographs!
