My First Magazine Photo Assignment

Have you heard the quote by success coach Brian Tracy?  “Act as if you were already the person you most want to be.”

Well, that’s how my first editorial photo assignment came to be!

Over a year ago, a good friend was going to be launching a new gluten-free cookie line.  I’d been studying branding and had realized I wanted to pivot from landscape photography to branding photography, to help other small business owners.

SO, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to act like I was already an established branding photographer, and take some photos of the cookies!!

I was very excited:). I brought my lights, softboxes, a stool, camera and lenses. And, I did a little research.

The afternoon flew by, with me videotaping and photographing the entire process of preparing and baking the cookies. (I even had a chance for a little play time with the dogs, too)

We thought the photos came out well and my friends were pleased.

One of our local magazines: Falmouth Living Magazine, was going to be doing an article on the launch of the cookies and needed some photographs…my friend mentioned that I’d taken some and sent them for review.

They liked the photographs!! And, used them for their article.😀

And, that’s how it began.  It was seriously one of the best things that has every happened to me.

I truly believe that by putting it out into the universe and assuming the role of a brand photographer, the stars aligned!!

I’ve since photographed the local Farmer’s Market and several of the Specialty Markets in town.

It’s a beautiful publication and I’m honored to be able to contribute to it.
