Why Spring is So Exciting for Landscape Photographers
I’m always excited to welcome Spring! Living on Cape Cod we become accustomed to many gray, flat days in the winter. I personally love each season, but have to admit that by the end of winter, I'm really looking forward to seeing some color in nature.
So, that’s reason #1. Spring brings back some color to the landscape and makes it more fun at times to compose our photographs. The trees begin to bud and daffodils and crocuses pop up through the ground. Each time I spot a new little sprout, it brings a smile to my face. We’ve made it through winter and look forward to blossoming flowers and trees!
Reason #2. Warmer temperatures. The temperature outside begins to moderate, and we can ditch the heavy winter coats, gloves and hats! It’s easier to maneuver with all the equipment required for landscape photography, without all of the cumbersome layers.
Reason #3. The bird songs! In Spring, about 30 minutes before sunrise, I can hear the birds begin their chirping:). They sound so happy and it always puts me in a good mood. I realize how much I missed hearing them during the winter months.
Reason #4. With warmer temps., it’s easier to be outside for longer periods of time. We can take more care with composing the landscape photo, without rushing to get away from a biting wind…
Reason #5. Being outside more boosts our spirits! We tend to slow down and become more mindful of each new bud and spot of color. Landscape photographers tend to be in sync with their surroundings. Listening to the birds or gulls, observing each new growth, and beginning to feel the warmth of the sun on our faces, all contribute to feelings of well-being!
Here’s to many happy moments outside in this beautiful season:))
